Scott proposed on August 12, 2017. We were going up north for a weekend get away to spend some time with his family on Neebish Island. His grandparents own a home on the island-which is an extremely remote place off the coast of the Upper Peninsula on the St. Mary's River. You have to take a ferry to get there! We spent the day relaxing by the water. In the evening I was helping his mom and sister in the kitchen while the guys were outside getting a fish fry ready. Scott kept coming in and out of the house asking when we were going to be ready and now that I look back on it, I realize he was super nervous. He hadn't told anyone he was proposing, except for about 20 minutes prior, when he asked his step dad to get his camera ready. He finally walked in the house and asked if I would come down to the dock with him to see the sunset. I left the house, barefoot, in shorts and a sweatshirt and a baseball cap on my head-clearly having no idea of what was to come! When we got down to the dock, a ferry was passing by, the sun was setting and he got down on one knee! I think I blacked out I was so excited. Apparently the ferry captain realized what was going on and honked his horn at us, but I was in a daze so that memory is a bit fuzzy. We celebrated with champagne and got to watch an amazing meteor shower that evening. It was truly an unforgettable night!

Sleeping Bear Dunes-In 2011, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was named the most beautiful place in America. The park contains thousands of acres of rolling dunes and forest, all open to exploration by foot or car. It's a great place for a picnic, walk, or just spending the day at the beach.
Go boating! Take advantage of the gorgeous blue water and unwind.
Take a winery tour! There are so many to choose from but some of our favorites are Chateau Fontaine, Bluestone Vineyards, Bowers Harbor, and Chateau Chantal
Hang out downtown! It's such a charming little downtown with plenty of shops, restaurants, and of course-beer and wine!
